Anyone know what the standard will be to qualify for the trials in 2016?
Anyone want to venture a guess?

With the increased betterment of USA running, my guess would ..2:16:00A & 2:18:00B
Men: 2:16 (only A standard)
Women: 2:40 (A), 2:50 (B)
will be announced shortly
I'm going to go ahead and say this is false. It would be unrealistic to have a field of only 28 men who ran under 2:16 last olympic trials and expand the women's field after a field of at least 196 women ran under 2:50 to qualify for the last trials.
Please excuse the horrible sentence structure in my prior post. Wow....
I am thinking of pursuing the shot put in the Rio Games. Does anybody have an idea of the qualifying distance for that baby? I have started doing 4 set of 50 pushups a night to help build my strength. I am anticipating big things in the Rio games.
WHO'S YOUR DADDY?!?!
I hear they were replacing the mary with a warrior dash type event. Add some pullups (wide grip) into your training and you should be good to go!
How realistic is it to shave 30 minutes off my marathon PR in 4 years if I train my ass off? If not in 4, what about 8?
I've heard 2:43 / 2:38 for the women and 2:20 / 2:16 for the men. It's to be decided at USATF convention in December.

Seems very reasonable choice in standards. Does anyone know how USATF comes to these times?
hopefully you are about 19yrs old
My plan is to run a 5:05 mile, then increase the distance by about 200 meters each week. Should be good enough by Rio.

i did. progression 2:59(2007 55mpw)->2:44 (2010 75mpw)-> 2:35 (2010 85mpw)-> 2:28 (2011 100mpw). next week i'll be looking for 2:21-2:22 with 120mpw. this is hs/college age.
so its possible but having done it you have to be willing to go through hell for years on end. early mornings, late nights, rain, snow, heat, and not much support financially and socially. if its worth it to you, start work today

Yeah but that will just be my regular run pace. When I actually race I'll be a WR holder.
c'mon son
It's going to the highest bid for location and standards. If a site wants a lot of people to show up, they'd be smart to have the standards conducive to a large amount of participates, but if they want a 50 person marathon, then the standards may be raised. The usatf had a brilliant idea to raise the standard for the 2012 trials, and coincidently this was the fastest and deepest trials ever. They (usatf) may think that this trend will occur again, and raise the standard one more time. Personally, I don’t think by making the standard much faster will increase the quality of runners. The course, weather and opening the standard to half marathon guys allowed for a fast race.
I think they should revert back to the ’68 trials in Alamosa. Have it an open race to whoever wants in. Charge an Olympic Trials marathon entry fee (i.e. $200) to whoever signs up, and give comp entry, hotel, meals and travel to an “A” standard time only. At that point, the “A” standard can be whatever the hell they want it to be (i.e. 2:18, 2:16, 2:15, 2:10) whatever! Other guys running 2:20 wouldn’t mind paying their way to another marathon, except this one they know will be loaded and fast! And even 2:30 guys can have to opportunity to race in the same All American Marathon Field.
That SH!T cray!!! But it gets the people going!!!
Dude #1: How fast will the standard be?
Dude #2: It should be 2:05 because if you're slower than that you suck.
Dude #3: It should be 2:45 because then I could run.
Dude #4: The B standard for chicks is way too slow.
Dude #5: If you're any good you should be able to run 2:15. Otherwise, you're wasting your time.
Dude #6: 1976
Dude #7: I just ran 2:45 if I run 300 miles a week will I run 2:17 by 2015?
Two words. WEIGHT VEST!
