I think the premise of crossfit is great. It seems fun to push your body in different disciplines. I mean if you've done competitive sports for a while, it's just another way to work hard and compete against your ability and with others.
I think it was mentioned in another post about the NYC marathon costing $250 now (which sucks) and that crossfit benefit outweighs the cost of the marathon, or something like that, I forget exactly.
My issue is the cost. Running is essentially free (minus shoes, maybe a watch, shirt, shorts, whatever your outfit preference is). I don't have to pay to go for a run, nor do I have to pay for 14 months of marathon training (though you can if you so choose). What's the cost of 14 months of crossfit? According to Monmouth Crossfit (Monmouth County,NJ
http://monmouthcrossfit.com/?page_id=66
) the minimum 2 classes per week for only a year equals $6240. That seems to be a bit more than 1 marathon per year...
So while it'd be great to get as "fit" as the guys in the crossfit gym, I'll stick to running for now while I get a better handle on my finances...
