2012 Big Sky XC predictions

I'll only name the top 3 for each because most of the teams in the big sky have laughable cross country programs and are not worth mentioning.

Weber's women went 1,2,3,5,6,7 at BYU

But...

SUU's women just averaged 20:50 ish at UCR

Weber wins and it won't even be close. Souther Utah 2nd. NAU third. The individual crown is will be more of an interesting race than the team. My predictions...

Give Southern Utah some love. How can you put Jumbo so high up when at least 3 other SUU girls beat her at the NAU meet two weeks ago? This is more realistic

the Weeebs are ranked 17th in the nation, they're the defending Big Sky champs, not to mention the royal beating they gave BYU at their own invitatinal this weekend almost scoring a perfect 15 (they scored 17).

I highly doubt Souther Utah, the Big Sky rookie can win conference this year. They'll be lucky if they finish runner up. NAU at their home course may sneak in for second.

I thought NAU was on a level above everyone else in the Big Sky?????? what is this about them getting beat by Weber state and Southern Utah? where is Weber state anyway? Is NAU on a decline?

Heins neglected the women's team for a while while giving all his attention to the men's team. He didn't recruit anybody for a couple of years and the team went straight into the gutter placing a ridiculous 5th place in the conference championship 2 years ago. Last year he started the rebuilding process and it will take a couple more years before they're back to doing anything. That's what happens when you neglect a team. It's difficult to bring it back to where it was. Much like our economy I guess. Bush neglected it, and now Obama is trying to clean up the mess. Slow and painful process.

To come to Hein's defense...His problem was that at NAU her rose to fast too soon. He was hired to take over coaching duties for the mens team and the womens team which he did very well as both teams qualified for the NCAA. Soon after that Hardy who was the head of track and field operations left for Boise. Heins was given that position as well. So he became the head of track and field operations, the mens and womens cross head coach, and the coach for distance in indoor and outdoor track.

That is too many responsibilities for one person. So yes, he neglected the women's distance team, but what could he do? In my opinion NAU should hire a permanent women's coach. Weber state has a separate coach for their men and women and it seems to be working well for them.

How come nobody is mentioning Montana State? They have a load of Freshmen and Sophmores with impressive times. Look for MSU ladies to be top 3 at conference. Same story with the men.

Wait, just because a school is new to a conference doesn't mean it's their first year ever running a race...

In current form they are a lock for 2nd and a threat for the win.

ahhhh.....did you see the utterly horrible results by the Grizz cross country teams lately. Montana - I think not.

Women - MSU 1st, UM 8th (behind Rocky Mountain Collge... insert laughing noise here).

Men - Weber 48, UW 49, MSU 50 (team ave = 25:34) .... UM 124, (team ave = 26:25).

Weber has the same coach for men and women in the distances.

jumbo is ahead of kanuho, that showed big time at the first meet at flagstaff. but jumbo is not wearing nau uniform because of "ncaa issues," which everyone is wondering what that is about. jumbo was the first to finish for nau, but was unofficial. then the next girl finish a couple people behind her. so considering all runners, jumbo is first for the girls team-nau.

Because of some transfers, NAU are going to be much better nationally than people are thinking

Kanuho did not run at that meet. Kanuho has been NAU's #1 all season. I have not seen Jumno finish a race running for NAU this season. What happened to her at Wisconsin? She started the race, but did not finish. Did she get hurt? did she go out too fast and could not finish? will she be running at conference? Too many questions on this young, but very talented runner. Hope she has a healthy and prosperous career for the Lumberjacks.

NAU guys should roll...

By the way, what's the issue with Caroline H. The girl from Sweeden. NAU is missing 2 of their top 3. I'd like to see the full healthy NAU squad. We haven't yet this year.
