Don't you mean Rord Dingreton, yon "Engrishman"?

Oxy got the US 3 standards (Rupp, lagat, Andrews)
Europe 1 (Russell brown)
Indy 1 (Jeff see)
Olympics (Centro)
Not sure if/where Torrence got it?
All others got it year before in Monacco - ANOTHER GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHERE POLITICS HELPS ALL,)
Sad part is all those others will struggle again this year to get A standard as well!
German's Oklahoma teammate Fabian Clarkson (a Berliner) had this to say about the race...
An alle Berliner!

It is too bad a guy like Leer, Heath, Bayer, would never get into a race like this and German does. I am happy for him, but how frustrating to always need the standard but can't get into the races where standards are run again and again.
German has right connection and agent.
Do we know Leer, etc.. have tried getting into these races?

Yeah, the expense of traveling to Europe and living/training there for several months is probably more of an obstacle for these guys, then actually getting into the races.
They all got over but could only get into little meets in Belgium, or Morton Mile with traditionally awful weather, and end their seasons at Falmouth or road races.
If you don;t get the standard, you can't make the team, and if you don't get an agent or a big contract immediately out of college, you never make it.
It is tough business.
Will Leer has been in tons of 1500 races where the pace is fast, but he never gets the A.
Methinks he's just not good enough!

Bullshit. I've talked to average runners in Northern Europe with worse times than guys like mentioned above and they get into good meets regularly and easy. How? They register for the meet and write their personal best. Then they get a PR and get into a better heat next time. And so it goes.
Not sure if people know but German raced in Belgium on August 25th and got the win:

Yeah, but he had the fastest qualifying time for that race. It was a nice warm-up, but this will a real test of his fitness.
Looking for him to compete and get under 3:37.

German looks good as a pro. He should've turned pro after his 13:25 year.
Impressed. Just hope he doesn't gain much more weight or too bulky. I do hate him in that Oregon green, however, would've been cooler in a Salazar Project track skull.
forecast looks great I say German runs 3:35 high
I think German should wait until next week and go for an easier PB in the 3k as was planned! This is too much, too soon and being a little greedy. I sincerely hope he is able to pull this off and finish respectable with a new PB well under his 3:37, but he should be easing into this a little more and not be thrown in with the sharks just yet. He's a bold guy but should take this a little more cautiously if he can afford to do so? The last thing he needs at this point is a discouraging blow-out like Andrew's had in Monaco earlier this summer!
Bumbalough is doing a 5000 in Italy an then running the 3000 in Reiti (I guess he's over whatever has been ailing him??). Maybe German will compete in Reiti also, epening on how this 1500 goes.
If O'liniard (sp) can jump into a fast race after a mediocre NCAA season and run 3:34 after years of battling injuries and being an borderline alcoholic, I'd say German has a great chance at 3:34
German MF Fernandez 3:34.60? Dude you don't need to move up just yet
