Chicago could do it.
There are plenty of arenas in and around Chicago that they could host all of the events. Granted, you would not have everything in one location, but you could do it.
For outdoor and indoor events, just to name a few, you have Soldier Field, Sox Park, Wrigley Field, and tons of local colleges like Northwestern, Loyola, DePaul, North Park University, etc etc, and in the close suburbs you have Northern Illinois University, Wheaton College, North Central College, Elmhurst College, Illinois Benedictine, Concordia, Lewis, College of DuPage, Olivet, etc etc. You also have the Allstate Arena and Sears Centre just northwest of the city. Use the smaller facilities for the lesser events like fencing, ping pong, trampoline, etc.
It might be better to spread things out like that. You would use existing facilities instead of spending a fortune to use something once. It would also be better because it would spread out the people and traffic.
Pick a few of the huge hotels out near O'Hare to be used exclusively for athletes, that would be your Olympic Village. There would still be plenty of places for the visitors to stay.
Doing it this way might be tough on the network broadcasting the events, but they would find a way.
Jesus Christ I'm getting tired of this L.A. meme. I'm from SoCal myself, but give it a rest.
YOU are not special because you happen to live where a lot of great athletes live. YOU have not done anything noteworthy. Stop being a godd@mn jocksniffer. You make everyone else from Southern California look bad.
This sh!t had gotten as annoying as the "Al Sal is Mexican" @ssholishness*. Worse, maybe.
I repeat: YOU are not special, and your horsesh!t just advertises the fact. Try to act like you have *some* class, even if it takes an Academy Award performance. Jesus.
*Which may very well be perpetrated by the same guy(s).

"Will Rio be Ready in 2016 ?"
To answer this actual question: No, almost certainly not. The corruption and inefficiency will make them look even worse than Montreal in 1976.
The one thing they have going for them: hosting the World Cup in 2014. I expect that to be so embarrassing that they might actually get their act together and host a decent, if not great, OG.
But I doubt it. Biggest thing to be alert to in the World Cup and OG: terrorist attacks.
Indianapolis could probably host most events. They have all the facilities in place, but the number of people you could fit into them would be small (IUPUI track is great, but small stands). Rowing and other events could be on the Eagle Creek reservoir. Sailing would be a problem.

On a similar topic, did anyone notice the peculiar 'wave' a German dignitary was doing when his nation's athletes were doing their lap of the stadium? It wasn't too dissimilar to the one they were doing last time they hosted...
The last time Germany hosted was Munich 1972.
Seoul - track is still good (you finish the Seoul Marathon in the stadium each year). All venues still in use (pool, etc) and they recently held the World Cup soccer.
Lots of cities have all the necessary athletic venues (cities build all new venues of the OG because they want to, not because they need to). But how many cities can handle the influx of people without completely shutting down all other business? This seems like the real issue to me. Sure, Indianapolis might have all the necessary athletic venues, but what would happen if a few hundred thousand people showed up in Indy today?
NYC and LA are probably the only American cities that are big enough to have any chance of absorbing that kind of inflow of people today without completely shutting down everything else. It would be a huge struggle even for them.
Paris could host it.
Paris Berlin shanghai Melbourne would be the first places to look. All have the facilities and infrastructure to handle the games.
Olys arent that big for a city like LA. LA has millions of tourists in town year around. In L.A. You see license plates every where every day in LA from all 50 states, U.S. posessions, Canadian provinces, Mexican states, foreign countries, diplomatic plates, etc. Several million temporary tourists are in LA at any given time at the beaches, Hollywood, Disneyland, Rose Parade, Academy Awards, convention halls, etc. The 1932 and 1984 Olympics in LA did not have any effect on the roads, freeways, or public transporation since LA handles that many tourists every day of the year anyways.

Well, too bad. The thread title asks which cities could host "IMMEDIATELY THIS MINUTE." Given that it would take L.A. a few days (more like months) to gear up, obviously it doesn't qualify.
So STFU.
Pretty please.
no city in the u.s. can hold a summer olys without spending at least $500B except for Los Angeles. there simply is no interest in most of the oly sports in the u.s. los angeles is the exception beacuse the weather has attracted so many pro sports athletes who have relocated permanently to Los Angeles.

Maybe. I don't know LA that well. But keep in mind that we're not talking about replacing the existing tourists with people who are in town for the OG. We're talking about dropping the OG in on top of everything that is currently happening. Maybe you're right and LA would be able to handle it just fine, but we're talking about a pretty big influx of people on top of the normal tourists and visitors who are already there.
Manhattan can handle more than a million people above its permanent population. That doesn't mean that we could drop a million people into Manhattan tomorrow without causing some serious issues. Why? Because there are already going to be a million "extra" people in Manhattan tomorrow.

Yes, you are correct, Chicago's bid did include quite a few construction projucts. However, in answer to the original question, the could do it since there are adequate facilities already in existance.
What about Seattle? Husky Stadium is pretty big (albeit a crappy statium) and still has a track last time I was there. But traffic in Seattle is bad, and would only get worse.

Well, in his defense, there was something a little off about those games too...
Seattle is in the Rift Valley of USA Running. Seattle can handle the Summer Olympic Games.
