I think he will run somewhere between 45 and 50.

I'll go with this.
If true, expect something in the 50-51ish area.
I get the runner a sub distance as I've done this for my athletes very early in the specific prep phase, but are any other of the top 800 runners doing this so close to the games?
My opinion is that Nick relies too much on his training and doesn't get enough racing in prior to championship meets.

Unless the race is designated an exhibition, starting blocks are required in open and elite competition for all events of 400m and shorter. Blocks are optional in masters meets.
That doesn't mean Nick never raced using blocks before, just like Morgan Uceny did.
I assume moye blocks fulfill this requirement ? That's what I'd use.
He run's 46.16 by the way
Huh? Where did he run that?

Why do morons insist on posting as if they know something special?
Blocks are mandatory from 400m down.
Saying he will use blocks in the Olympic 800 would be equally stupid. But not quite.

400m time from blocks is not so important.
if he runs 47.2 from blocks, that means he
can split <46 in a relay.
what will happen is he'll give 10m or so
to everyone and then try to catch them.
I predict that he'll run it with reservation much like his 800 races trying to kick people down in the last 50.
I predict that he's not actually listed in a 400m race overseas. What meet? Where's the start list?

He posted that he was running a 400 overseas on his FB. It's legit.
I can't tell if you're serious or not, but I've never heard of blocks being a mandatory element of any race, much less the 400.

It probably has something to do with the fact that he has stated that he isn't using blocks-
https://twitter.com/NickSymmonds/status/221277916250636289sounds like there will be hate...
I think most of you have it too slow. I know a sophomore in high school who has run 48.0, and Symmonds would beat him.
I say 45.9.
47.24

Seriously? Never heard of official reaction times and false starts? Seriously?
in Ireland, not too hot, and he doesn't want to pull anything just before the Olympics. 47.1
He f'd w/a teammate's head by bringing Paris to the trials. If he really had class, he would have run in PARIS vs. Rudisha.
