If Oregon would let her do it on more then just the 4 by 4 relay just saying. Not to many Athletes can own the 100 and the 400 like English can and would.

You can do the 1-2, or the 2-4. You can't do the 1-4 without getting worse in one.
a 50.7 split is pretty solid for a 100/200 runner. 400m might be her best area but right now she is very close (10.98 wind legal conversion from NCAA's) to contending for our Olympic team at 100m. Could she make the team at 400m this year?
One can wonder what Laura Roesler would be able to run in the open 400m. Wouldn't be as drastic for a primary 800m runner to drop down to the 400m as a 100m specialist completely bypassing the 200 for the 400m. Stuff for Vin and Oregon to ponder for outdoors next year..
Yeah, you tell them. What do those idiots up in Eugene know about Track and Field anyway?
chamber of commerce wannabe...
Laura Roesler isn't a primary 800 runner, at least not until recently. She ran 100, 200 and 400 in high school. Her coaches certainly have some idea what she's capable of running for 400 and feel she has a better shot at the 800.
Honestly Oregon does not need English Gardner in the 400. They need her in the 100 where she is an 11 flat runner. They already have Phyllis Francis who is turning into a phenomenal 400 meter runner.

This makes no sense at all. Training for the 800 and 400 are VERY different.
Jauntorena was a real anomaly...and likely doped.

Um correct me if I'm wrong, but for the past two track seasons at Oregon, what event has she been running??? The 800m. And unless Oregon has another girl by the same exact name, isn't Laura also a frequent member of the 4x4 relay team where she is capable of running the 400m leg in 51, 52 seconds. So yes, I would say she is more than capable to run the open 400m given her 800m speed and sprinting background. She has run the 1500m with not as much success. Just my OPINION.
I believe English's accurate split from NCAAs was more like 51.3 than the 50.8X that was announced. Gotta go line to line.
But yeah, she definitely can run the 400. But again, you're talking about a young woman who missed a year and a half with ACL and MCL tears and Oregon is absolutely doing the right thing by bringing her back gradually and not loading her up with 200s, 400s and legs on every relay in the world.
She loves the 400 and eventually you'll see her in some open quarters.
They also need her to get fit/healthy whatever it is enough for them to feel it is okay for her to run the 200.
Double up.
If she is running the open 100 and 4x4, why is she not running the 200? It just seems logical that if she is great at the 1 and the 4, she would be phenomenal in the 200
gardner's split was 51.1, at best.
