That makes 3 of us. My training/times/age are IDENTICAL to slow except when not. I may have even been spiked by one of you in a track meet. And I DO have a quite fast girlfriend, too. Pretty wierd! Have either of you competed at masters nationals?
Our 3 data points indicates the success one can have with the train slow/race fast method, at least when you are late 40's age.
In contrast, when I was coming off injury and doing just base, my slow pace sped up to 7:45 (down from 8:30 or so). THen when starting speed, the top end was GONE. I guess this reinforces the Coe stuff mentioned by others.
