When you first broke 16:00 minutes:
1) How long had you been training?
2) How many miles per week were you consistently doing?
3) What types of workouts were you doing?
1. I had been training 6 years, but the first 3.5 were very very recreational (<20 mpw average for that period) then I became more serious over the 2.5 years following
2. I had worked up to around 55-60 mpw average for the year, with peaks in the mid 70s
3. Very little other than tempos (5-10 miles) and sprints (very free form) I'm sure if I had done more focused workouts I could have run as fast sooner but I never really knew what I was doing when I would go to the track, and frequently had no workout partners.
