To be fair, Ritz did set his Marathon PR while under Alberto

Hengelo was a coaching mistake.
Very naive to go to the Ethiopian trials at 10am to get the Olympic A Standard. Stupid move.
Meanwhile, another American leapfrogs over Ritz with a 27:43 tonight at a controlled race in cool weather in the evening.
Ritz should have went to the meet Chirlee ran at.
Simon Bairu should also be kicking himself.
Dooooooooh........Stupid Nike!

I don't think this is correct. On the USATF site it says: "10,000m and Combined Events - January 1, 2011 - July 1, 2012 or the end of the athlete's individual event at the 2012 Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field, whichever comes first."
The 10,000 final is on June 22, so very little time to get it before. There will be a bunch of guys in the OTQ race (~17) who need to go after the 27:45, so the race is likely to be fast enough for Ritz to get it, assuming that several of the B qualified go after it.
So did ritz break down and cry like a little girl like he did after the marathon trials?
Started to, but pulled it together once he saw the mic in front of him

To be more fair, he only improved on his marathon time by 5 seconds. In 3 years.
And the cobbles and turns in London are worth 5s easily.
London 2009 2:10:00 under Hudson was a better run than 2:09:55 under Al.
