What are the standards for women?
Listen. Stanford is the place to go to school on the west coast hands down.
That said things have changed here over the years. It's much more elite. It used to be you could 9:20ish and walk on. I think that fed the machine. Now fewer are allowed on the team and I think that led to the decline the past 5 years or so.
Btw Chris, who has run 4:08 for 1600 wasn't invited to camp.

Also a low 15 would demolish the state meet by a minute for PA. They cant just go after that elite,, i doubt there are many of these runners that you described, Pennsylvania is a pretty big distance state in general
1.like 20-30 kids per year break 9
2. Our state course is extremely tough. The low 15 and high 14 is in reference to golf course xc courses in Cali.
There's only one race of any significance in California that's on a golf course: Stanford Invite.
If you don't think there are tough courses in California, you've got another think coming. Mt. SAC and Crystal Springs are no cakewalks.

I don't know the athlete you are referring to, but if he is primarily a miler, maybe that's why he wasn't invited to camp? I'm assuming you are referring to the preseason camp this year? Unless I'm mistaken, the main purpose of that camp is to work with the guys who are going to be potential starters on the xc team, not track guys. But I'm just guessing here.
Wow, Megan Ferowich is going to Stanford. She ran a 10:26 time trial during XC her sophomore year before finishing 5th at Footlocker, but has done NOTHING since then. Wonder if she'll ever return to form? She can't be getting much or any scholarship money.
Jason Lunn, Gabe Jennings, Michael Stember, Ryan Hall (I can go on) all went to camp back in the day. Some turned out to be big xc contributors, others more so on the track.
And no freshman has a hope at contributing anything so why take any first year at all?

Are you sure about freshmen not contributing? I think Stanford had several freshmen on their male and female cross country teams last year

Is that why Woodard just ran 50 seconds faster then Cuffe did after Woodard already took 3rd overall in the 10 K 2 nights prior to the 5 K today? Nice job for the true Frosh Woodard 3rd in the 10 K and 12 in the 5 K to advance in both events to Nationals. Woodard and Grabill>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..Cuffe
Holy crap, all you ever do on these boards is talk up Oregon. We get it, you like the team, but your opinion is completely biased and get in the way of any and all intelligent conversation. All that I get out of your worthless posts is "Blah blah blah Oregon. Blah blah blah better than everybody. Blah blah blah I don't listen to reason, am entirely one-sided and want to have babies with every single person on the team". Nobody cares.
Thank you for your accurate comments regarding pac12fan's contributions to the board, but you forgot to add QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!
