From the official Letsrun PR thread
median
5000 m (track) 14:17
5K (road) 15:26
If you factor in those who post say more than twice a month those would be considerably slower, maybe 2 and 3 minutes respectively.
14:53 PR, right now still training hard post college for the marathon, probably around 15:00 shape.
Average= sub 17.
I would guess that's about the average PR around here. No one who has a 23 min PR is going to respond to this question. My PR is 18:48, which is fairly recent. I have been on letsrun before while my PR was in the low 19s.
My 5k pr is 17:35
My 5k pr is actually a split from an 8k, 15:05 (15:12 for true 5k)
I would guess the real 5k average here is over 18. People tend to talk a big game when they are hiding behind a screen
I was a 16:2x three miler in HS. Ran a 17:22 road 5K in my early 20s when most of my training consisted of drinking beer and carousing. I ran 19:35 last year (33 yrs old) and 19:00 about 4 years ago. Haven't raced yet this year, probably wouldn't run much faster than 21:00 if I did.
PR: 16:51 XC
Ave of last 5 races: 20:32

17:32 5k
~16 min average
since dyestat shut down, more and more HS kids come here so it's def slower
RIP dyestat

Me: 16:15 (road)
letsrunners: 17:30
I have never really run a 5k. I ran 28:56 for 8k, Mcmillan calculator puts me at 17:33 5k.

Funny~
My PR is 20:06. I am only 13 however.
15:30 is a pretty pedestrian time in college. I'd be surprised if the the majority of college+ male runners here hadn't run under 16.
Never run a 5km. I think the average Letsrun time would be about 17 minutes. I think the results will show it to be sub 14 though.
and I would have handed him his ass at anything longer. Then or now.
