Freshman year of HS. Bring back the Columbia too!!!
And the Vector, Vengence, Vortex
I had the original that was silver mesh which disintegrated pretty quickly. The first time I wore them I felt like I was running on flubber from the old Walt Disney movie. They were much more springy than the later air models of which I had many.
Well there's some memories.

Ah yes...the mid sole that disintegrated after about 50 miles. The next version was a keeper though! First guy I saw w/them was Billy Donakowski in '79 - wear tester pair.
I wore the Tailwinds when they came out and never had a problem with them. I always put about 1,000 miles on a pair of shoes.
I saw the Tailwinds last week and didn't even know they hadn't been around. I bought another pair of the Brooks Ghost which astounds me because I swore off Brooks in 1981 and never bought another pair until last year. I ran in Pegasus for years, but quit a couple years ago when they just got too ugly to be seen in.

Cool, Tom.

Ah, the shoe that administered the coup de grace (begun by the LDV 1000) to my first running career. It would be 14 years before I could train and compete again.
Tom. Am I right to assume you worked on the development of the Tailwind?
