I'm coaching the track team this year and will not have any assistants. I have a good background of distance training having been a long time cross country coach and asst. track coach. Now the head track coach has suddenly left the team and the AD has given me the head coaching responsibilities. I'm excited about this responsibility and expanding my knowledge I do recognize that I need some help though. So I have a couple questions...
1) Any good suggestions on websites/books/videos of how to properly set up a season long sprint training program?
2) Do sprinters follow the same type of hard-easy-hard-easy principle that I follow with my long distance runners?
3) If yes on question 2 then what does an easy day look like for sprinters? Warm-up, Drills, Starts, Done?
Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
