Thoughts on how we are all better?
Thoughts on how we are all better?
got the discussion going. more so than any other group. The talk radio crowd, the bland repubs/dems, are all just interested in the status quo.
They made a difference for the Oakland police force yesterday. The police had to arrest Occupy protesters after they broke into City Hall, a YMCA, destroyed property, hurt policemen, etc. So, I suppose they have had a positive effect on policemen's salaries because of the overtime they have earned rounding up all the Occupy criminals.
They started the discussion about income inequality but shot themselves in the foot by not having coherent organization, leadership, and a solution.
OWS, Ron Paul, and Jesse Ventura have legitimized open discussions concerning distribution of wealth, U.S. policy of genocide, imperialism, and total disregard for human rights.
The mainstream media has being overtaken and is now passe.
Twitter, Facebook, Al Jazeera, etc. have taken the lead and have obsoleted censored CNN, CBS, FOX, BBC, etc.
I think that OWS reappears in the spring and makes a lot of noise through the election cycle.
Romney claiming that the 99% are just jealous of the 1% is just not going to play well.
Hopefully, they all vote in November. The Democrats take everything. Put taxes back where they should be, the country starts the road to recovery from the W Bush debacle and then more "small" voices are heard.
Bring jobs back to the USA that Bush gave as a gift to China and we'll be set.

And they further damaged their message with criminal activity. Started off with a great message but dissolved into anarchy. And as a previous poster pointed out, no organization, leadership, or a solution.
They annoyed a lot of people and held up traffic, which is success from their point of view.

Here is an excerpt from SF Gate on the protest:
Speakers at the rally exhorted the crowd to fight economic inequality. The first speaker, Roxanne Dunbar Ortiz, took perhaps the most pointed stance, urging the crowd to fight the rich.
"Passionate, organized hatred is the element missing in all that we do to try to change the world," said Ortiz, a retired professor from Cal State East Bay. "Now is the time to spread hate, hatred for the rich."

One of the local occupy movements has decided to try and do positive things in order to curry favor, they were quoted in the paper the other day talking about organizing a bicycle safety day. I laughed my @ss off. That is a long long way from toppling capitalism.
It sky rocketed the police overtime. Which I guess was nice for the police.
Most people are too stupid to realize all the ways they are being taken advantage of by the 1% so they will gladly go about their lives saying they don't like it but not doing anything about it.
The problems will come in another generation as the 1% are too greedy to heed the warnings that are being given now and the gap between them and the rest will widen to the point that nobody will have anything left for them to take.
At the rate we are going now, in another 25 years, the head football coach at your favorite college will be making about 125,000,000 a year while the average wage is 100,000. Your basic cable will be about 250/month which won't even include the "best" football and basketball games which will be pay-per-view only.
Woody Hayes made 4 times the average wage in the 60s and Ohio State was very successful. Urban Meyer makes 100 times the average wage now and hasn't even coached a game yet since quitting on that losing Florida team he was at before.
OWS, GOP bashing Alberto Salazar's La Raza, and GM's comeback guarantees Obama's re-election.

The truth rarely does
The OWS "movement" has been one of the greatest con jobs of all time. George Soros funded this group to rail against Republicans but the public and media are too stupidnto realize that most 1%ers vote Democrat. Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey, Ted Turner, Steven Speilberg, Steve Jobs, John Kerrey, Nancy Pelosi, the Kennedys, JayZ.
Seriouslynwith Wall Street being in NYC there's not a Republican in sight.
I wish I could find that video of George Soros saying "all you had to do was get the gullible college kids to rail against something and the public would buy anything".
Greatest con job ever.
Occupy Florida is ready to explode given the housing collapse is taking pensions down with it. 1/3 of Floridians are being forced back to work this spring to pay for their prescriptions.
Most OWS people don't vote. Why the f*ck would I vote for anyone in the crooked '2 party' system. It's such a sham. They pretend to hate eachother, but are best buds and bought and paid for by the same billionaires.
