I like to harness mother nature's naturally protective nutrients and bacteria that ward off infection. Have you ever noticed how dogs love to wallow in the dirt, but never have problems with infections? It's because of all the goodness that can be found in soil. Bury your needle in the ground overnight before using it for your piercing. That should be plenty of time for all the goodness to transfer to the needle and protect you from infection.
Please please please don't do it yourself!!! Don't run the risk of getting it infected, especially since it is so easy to get it pierced and safe to get it done by a professional.
Abstinence is the only 100 percent effective way to avoid infection.
done quite a few piercings on my own.
first, get a proper piercing needle. you can get them on ebay for a buck a pop. not sure about nose, maybe 16g? I've always used 14g before. You want a tribeveled, sealed piercing needle.
next, wash your hands and face really really well, disinfect your hands. next, swab your nose with alcohol.
next, set your jewelry in alcohol.
next, pierce it.
then i always put a gob of neosporin on the jewelry and then push into the back of the needle and push it through.
from there i'm done. afterwards i'll use some hydrogen peroxide on it or that stuff they give you when you pierce your ears, whatever's handy as well as dabbing neosporin on it a few times a day.
over a dozen piercings and never ever had a single infection doing the above.
or, you could tattoo "I'm immature and attention-seeking. I hope I appear more interesting than I actually am, by piercing my nose" on your forehead.
