I like your definition. What about people who claim to have been running for like 2 years and who can win NCAA.

Levins is an awesome runner. But I have to agree with the high mileage haters. Think of his potential if he ran only 100 miles a week.
No wait what if he cut that down 70. Even better!!!!
I just had a supper Idea what about 20-30 miles a week. We could turn this guy into a wicked 400meter runner.
Lets go Levins future 400 meter phenom
Did anyone stop and think that Levins trains the way he does because thats what he knows is what it takes for himself to be a successful runner!!!!

Well said!!!!!!
I read this and I wish I could be a super hero runner with like 70 miles a week.
I started college running like 50 a week since that is what our coach wanted. I did ok.
Next year I tried 70 a week. And was about the same.
I jumped the mileage up to 100 a week and saw some big improvements, but the time it took to be out there was draining on my life.
I don't know how you do it Levins. That is so much time invested in the sport.
Levins you must really want it more than the next man.
Right on!!!!
Cam Levins is my new favorite runner to because he does what it takes to be up there with the best.
There is no questioin that most of the top ten at NCAA were more talented than he was. There is no question that LAwi is the superior runner.
However there is absolutely no question that Levins is the hardest working athlete in NCAAs right now.
For that We applaud you Levins.
We hope you continue to improve.
Dude that almost put a tear in my eye!!!
Thats what it comes down to.
Levins is an image of hope to college runners who aren't as talented.
He makes the mediocre runners start to think maybe I have a chance of getting top ten in the NCAA against all of the best recruits in the nation.
WAY TO GO LEVINS!!!!!!!!!!
This is were someone is supposed to come in and say in response to Levins being a hardworking machine.
1. He doesn't really do 155 miles.
2. Think of how much better he would be if he didn't 155
(The number itself isn't super important though it is astonishing) The fact is he does high mileage because that what works for him, and probably is what is necessary for him to be successful.
3. He is a foreigner so we can't talk about him.
4. He really is talented.
(Which of course is true but we are saying is he as talented as Lawi, Galen, Puskedra, Fernandez, Korir, Derrick, Colby Lowe, and so on.
We are not asking whether or not he has more talent than Tecumseh Adams-- Thats for a different forum.
I don't think anyone has enough facts or an accurate scale to measure how exactly talented he is.)
5. He is white and Everyone is being racist, because Kenya definitely doesn't have more amazing talented runners than the rest of the world. (Yes we know that being Kenyan doesn't exactly mean you will be fast, but there is a higher talent rate per capita is what we are saying)
So yes we cheer for the underdogs regardless of race and we cheer the blue collar hardworking athletes.
Way to Go Levins!!!
Hope you win nats in track.
Well that says it all!!
Nice, just thought I'd add my 2cents before the trolls come.
Go Levins!!! I also hope you can take down Lawi, Derrick and Korir in track!!!!
Me too!!!
Levins take them down in track!!!!!!!!!!!
Levins you are the man!!!
Take em' all down in track!!!!
Beat down all the American Runners !!
(By that I mean the Native Americans)
While your at it beat the African Runners as well!!!
(So as not to be racists) Beat every ethnicity!!!!!!!!!
Sadly hard work lost to talent in Cross!!!
However, if anyone one can take down the talent its Levins!!
Good luck Levins in track we hope you tear it up!!!!!
I am Obama
Levins you are the embodiment of the American Dream.
Before I am booted from the white house I wanted to make sure I recognized your heroism
I Obama in behalf of Americans across the world, hereby award you the medal of awesomeness. You have given hope to all people around the world, actually that is a bit of an understatement I mean to say you give hope to our entire Galaxy.
Levins you are America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am the spirit of James Madison the primary author of the American Constitution. Almost 250 years ago we knew someone like you would come along.
Since it was said of old that Madison was America
I now pass the mantle on to you.
Levins you are America!!!
Good luck in track!!!

Running 155 mpw to finish fourth...
Wow. I can't get excited about this. All I can think about is that this guy is a bit deluded if he thinks he genuinely has a shot at being much more than an above-average collegiate runner.
If you have to run 155 mpw to get fourth at collegiate nats, there's not much more you're going to be able to do for the jump necessary to compete with the elites.
This 'work hard' ethic is all well and good, but the accompanying feel-good line about success following hard work is only a reality in the land of fairy tales.
At some point the vast majority of people have to accept that they do not have the potential to be as great as they're willing to work to be.
You missed the point that Cam has already had success due to his hard work. Assuming he is a top thirty runner based on his talent and regular training, he has far exceeded that by hard work.
So dreams can come true through hard work, but not everyone is dreaming to become the world record holder.
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Levins is fast
and you can be to
fast feet pounding ground
taking the top talent down
Levins is the best!
Pretty sure he is running in celsius, not miles. No runs 155MPW

I'd like someone to explain to me this perception that Cam is not "talented". And why shouldn't someone who has achieved what Cam has so far in his VERY EARLY career dream the biggest dreams?
American had its own foreigner at Oregon (I forget his name but it rhymes with biscuit). He quit the team and xc just as the season moved from 8km to 10km.
Not all foreigners are created equal.
