For a teenager who loves running but doesn't have the basic speed to achieve things on the track, the logical thing to do is shoot for a fast marathon.
I have a rough four year plan made out that looks something like this
Year 1: Break 32min in 10k and 15min in 5k (running 80mpw)
Year 2:Break 70min in half marathon (90- 100mpw)
Year 3: Run first marathon, aim for 2:25 (120 mpw)
Year 4: Run another marathon, aim for sub 2:20 (110 mpw)

Not enuff info. but if you are, say, 19, and can do 15 for 5K, then you can do 31 for 10K. You can also likely do sub 70 right now AND a 2:25. I know - these were my PR's but I was 24-25 when I did them.
I never did huge miles (70-80 at most) so we could speculate that if you do 100-120 without injury for a year or so then 2:20 is definitely on the cards.
Of course this assumes you can achieve your yr 1 starting point.
