That had to be an 8K.
Kobe Bryant ran a 10K in 35 minutes about 3-4 years ago.
Nate "Tiny" Archibald ran a 4:25 mile back in the day, and I'm guessing he could have run 34 for 10k.
Steve Nash wasn't in the Army infantry or Marines. Not even in the non-combat services like 90% of the Army, 99.5% of Air & Nav, and 100% of CG.
I HATE the guy but lebron in the 100? I think so, he has nothing past 200m Id guess, but if you watch him accelerate on the floor amongst other guys its disgusting. I think he'd have a good 100 compared against other NBA "ballers"

That's what I was thinking. There is no way he ran 5:15 pace for 8 miles. 8:20s pace for 8K / 5 miles is way more realistic. Besides, where in the world do they have an 8 mile race?
There have been all kinds of unconfirmed reports of Allen Iverson running a 4:20 mile his first year in the NBA. And other reports of him running a 4:45 in training camp with some regularity. Who knows if these are accurate, but he has the build for distance (5'11" 160) and is (was) a sick athlete.

There's a great 8 miler in New Milford, CT every summer.

Shaq would have a good 10km in him.
I thought his knees were shot and doesn't he weigh something like 300+lbs? If so, not likely....just saying.
I would take JJ Redick in a 10k over Nash.

I think a prime Iverson would trounce Lebron in the 100m. Lebron is too heavy to sustain top end speed.

Flotrack has a question on facebook right now, asking who we would pick for a track team to run the 100m, 1500m, and the 10K. Many people are picking Steve Nash for the 10K....which got me thinking...would he really be the best? Sure, he does have good endurance for a basketball game, but that is completely different than running a solid 10K time. If I remember correctly, his former teammate shawn marion had very good endurance (if not better than steve) as well.
I'd guess Steve is around 37 minutes for a 10k--good, but not spectacular.
What about you all?
Not relevant to current discussion, but I have seen pics of Wilt Chamberlain running X-C in a Kansas uniform.

For the 10K it is probably whoever the smallest guy in the NBA is. I don't know who that would be nowadays.
I don't know about that. In the Utah days, Carl Malone was a decent 10K road racer in Salt Lake in the summer. Wonder what Dirk could do. Also wondering about Ray Allen, who never stops moving in NBA games.
D. Wade was an all-state guy in the 400m back in HS. It would be interesting to see what he could do in the 400 with some solid training and professional coaching under his belt.
Why no love for Yao in the 10k? I know he retired but still....
I'd see him more as the 100 guy, with those long legs, Yao would kind of have the Bolt factor

Really? Obviously he is incredibly fit, but a 35 min10K for a 6'6" 210 pound guy sounds pretty fast.
