I know a lot of guys that have posted a reply think of white briefs, or "tighty whities" as being out of style and only worn by old men and little boys. Well, I'm a young guy and I still proudly rock plain white briefs and nothing else.
I'm currently 27 years old and work as a high school baseball and track coach for a small city in Texas. I also was born and raised in a small Texas town where I went to school, played multiple sports, and always wore plain full cut white briefs. Though I didn't grow up poor, the only store of any size in our town was Walmart. And since it was over an hour to the nearest larger city, options were limited on where to buy underwear. From the time me and my brothers were just little boys, our parents had always bought plain white Hanes or Fruit of the Loom briefs for us to wear, and once we got old enough to buy our own underwear all three of us continued to buy the same because we actually LIKED wearing briefs.
Though it might have been unusual for boys in the 2000s, most of my buddies also wore briefs so the whole locker room teasing thing was never an issue. Though I never really counted, I'd estimate that at least 80% of the guys on my high school baseball team wore either plain white briefs, colored briefs or a combination of both while the others wore boxer briefs. And in fact it wasn't until I got to college and lived in the dorms that I saw another guy wearing boxers. For a couple of weeks during my freshman year I actually tried both boxers and boxer briefs, just so I wouldn't be caught in the communal showers wearing my tighty whities. However I couldn't get used to wearing them because of their lack of comfort and support...so back to briefs it was! I finally decided that I didn't care what other guys or girls thought of my underwear...white Hanes and Fruit of the Loom briefs are what I like so white Hanes and Fruit of the Loom briefs are what I chose to wear.
Once I graduated college and started my coaching/teaching job that I have now, I started changing clothes daily in the coaches' locker room. Since we are a relatively small school, our coaching staff consists of either younger guys fresh out of college or guys that are in their mid to late 30s. I wasn't surprised to discover that most of my fellow coaches wear boxer briefs...but there are 3-4 of us that wear only white briefs, including a couple of guys that are in their late 20s like me.
My girlfriend has been with me since college and we now live together, and she doesn't care at all what kind of underwear I choose to wear. As I have since I was just a kid, I sleep in nothing but my white briefs, and from the first time she saw me wearing a pair of Hanes tighty whities right up to the present day, she has never made comments or said anything about the fact I wear briefs. The top drawer of my dresser contains nothing but classic white briefs, of which I now have several different brands. In addition to Hanes and Fruit of the Loom, I also have BVD, Stafford (from JC Penney), Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Dockers, Old Navy, and even some old school Tiger double-seated briefs, all of which I wear and alternate between regularly. And if you were to look for boxers, boxer briefs or even colored briefs at my house, you wouldn't find a single pair since I do not own anything but basic full cut white briefs.
Some guys just like wearing briefs, and not necessarily because they're trying to reclaim their inner child or because they are geeks or nerds. I'm a young, active, and athletic high school coach and I wear white briefs because they really are my favorite style of underwear. They are soft, comfortable, and supportive; they are snug and tight around my crotch and bottom without being too constricting; they hold everything in place when I workout and go for my runs; and the white cotton fabric stays smooth on my bottom without wrinkling or bunching up whenever I wear jeans.
Though I don't know if tighty whities are making a comeback or not, I personally love wearing plain white briefs. I choose to wear them because for me they're simply the best...and I plan to continue wearing them for a long time.
