Track and Field News denies Neely Spence a spot on List due to being D2

If they're going to call it a "Collegiate" list, it should include all "Collegiate" athletes. End of story.

I agree with you. Where can I send my irate letter, or better, where can I picked outside of in protest? I'm not joking.

Here are a few additional stats what would make that list

The NCAA recgnizes marks done after nationals, but tfn doesn't. I'll go with the opinion of thr NCAA over a struggling magazine and their alcoholic editors.

The NCAA doesn't keep any sort of official lists. Where do you people come up with this crap?

In 2004, Briana Shook ran 9:29.32 in steeple for Toledo after NCAAs and it also didn't count.

I'm guessing that it's because there are so many different rules and sometimes lack of them as you get into the NAIA scene.. and you have athletes that sometimes aren't "college age" hitting big marks in DII or NAIA. Of course we know that Bauhs and Spence were college age, and had to abide by NCAA standards and rules, so it's too bad they're not on the lists.

They should call it the NCAA DI list if those are their rules not the collegiate list.

Then they need to address that on their list, or just age verify the marks to make sure they are within the D1 recuirements, this would be a situation that happens maybe one a year at most or once every 5 years. Sounds pretty simple to me, and this is an outdated rule anyhow that needs to be reviewed. Change is okay TnFnews. These few athletes that have been able to perform with the best in D1 without the funding shuld be on that list, if anything they deserve a special asterick at the bottom saying they were non D1 but they would have made the list

The "College Best" is included by the timing company. The NCAA does not, to my knowledge, keep track of that. The NCAA does keep track of the NCAA meet record, but I don't think that it keeps track of anything else of the record variety.

Those are r-e-s-u-l-t-s. The thing at the top of each result? That says "collegiate best"? That is apparently copied from the FAST listing of collegiate records.

One more time, and slowly so you can get it -- the NCAA does not keep any all-time track and field performance lists. They keep NCAA meet records. That's it.

Also Edwin Moses (DIII): 47.45 in 1977. He should be the #1 all-time collegiate.
