Unfortunately you can't wrestle someone during a race - he is step off the track wimpy!

one of my favorite parts of watching that race video is when the kenyan cuts in on centro at the bell and centro sticks his arm out and pushes him back to force his way back into the lead. Solinsky would have stepped off the track crying about the africans nasty tactics.

They don't actually do anything. They just sit there on the bed all night and talk about how great its going to be.
DO IT ON THE TRACK. Then talk about it.
The Eugene and Portland folks have two gold and three silver medals so far.
And more WC entrants than any other state.
Centro got pretty lucky in the semi's with his pass on the inside; if things go right for him in the final, he has a chance to medal!!!! (No chance to win; sorry)
All of Centro's great wins thus far have been in very slow races (USATF Champs, NCAAs). That said, he knows how to "race" and that certainly gives him an edge. He's got some balls which most Americans seem to be lacking out there. Hopefully the pace goes out slow and maybe he can come away with some shiny sh@t!!
you cannot grow up in the Centrowitz household without having a huge set of "Balls".
Anybody betting on Centro, a rocky runner, is just wasting their words. Actually Silas and kiprop will go 1-2 and willis 3. Kiprop jogged into a 3:36 and Silas did not even kick. Centro was in full throttle and a 3:46 is not a great time to talk about. Comparing men 1500m and women 1500m is absurd because they are completely different. Sorry, I do not think centro will medal this time. maybe in future! winning time in a 3:33+. Centro would only win if the winning time is 3:42 but a 3:33 and below is far from his PR.
I think Centro will win...3'44'77!!!!!

I honestly think Centro has as good or better a chance as anyone to win this one.
Funniest sentence I've read in quite some time. Thank you Conto; thank you.
"Jog" has managed to become a word people use pretty loosely to talk about relaxed performances. No one jogs a 1500--especially if it's a 3.36 1500. As for the allegation that Kiplagat "didn't even kick"--he may have been relaxed, but in no one's book should a 52/53 400 count as "not even kicking."
Dos santos, these are professional runners and not NCAA or US outdoor championships. It is world championships and people do not run a 3:47 or a 3:44. If Centro thinks this is gonna be a walk in the park, he better think twice because its going to be under a 3:34 winning time. I will be damn if a winning time is a 3:40s!!
Maboyten, stop talking. No one has said anything about what Centro "thinks" it's going to take to win. Your comments have been completely useless.
I can't wait to watch this damn race. Too bad it's on at like 5 a.m. my time!
Just looked at the start list for this race. Only ONE runner in the race has a slower PB than Centro. Not looking good Cotton!!! Unless of course the race is slower than FACK! you know, like a USATF Champs or NCAAs. But that's prolly not going to happen. Centro just needs to run his damn ass off and stay at the front.
When was the last time an American won the 1500m Gold at a World Champs or Olympics? And who was it?

Wouldnt It Be Nice wrote:Whoah there big fella. I'm hoping for the best for Centro as much as the next guy. But take a look at the video again and note folks like Baala and Kiplagat during the finish - they are barely jogging. That wasn't a race to win. It was a race to qualify. And there is a big difference.
I do agree that luck may play a big part in the final. I also agree that Centro is a great tactician and a real baller. My guess remains, however, that at this point he will probably be mid-pack in the final.
It's still dumb to say that "they weren't even racing" in the semis
People need a dose of reality. Yes the guy won the semi's but remember this was pedestrian 3.46 with the last 300 @ 52 pace not exactly lightning they closed quicker in the 10k.
This is a guy who has the exact same PB as O Lionaird a guy who I personally think looked like a better kicker this championship off healthier paces.
Fact is that neither are going to medal having said that best of luck to both great achievement as they made the final when alot of the big names have gone out but medal wise neither stand a chance
