God, burritos, you're an idiot. There has been plenty of talk about the missed possibility of an American 1-2 finish.
And what's the "it" in your sentence, about it seeming "like people don't really even care about it anymore"? Do you mean to say "her," as in Uceny? What a nonsensical remark.
Finally, WTF is wrong with you - there's plenty of effing time to "console" someone, but all of a moment to really revel in being a world champion. Sweet Jesus, how I'd hate to see the world through your eyes - a world in which "jumping up and down" after becoming the champion of the world in something is in poor taste. Uceny would have been embarrassed to be consoled right away by the new world champ, condescension and disingenuousness being in the worst taste of all.
I'm sorry for saying "it." I had originally written "the fall" but changed it to "it" later. My mistake. Insert whatever you like in there ("her", "the fall", "her fall"), it still makes sense. Sorry to offend your grammatical sensibilities.
You may hate to view the world from my eyes. I respect that. In my world, though, I don't celebrate a victory like that when I know my countryman, a pre-race favorite, was taken to the ground with 550 to go. In my world consolation is not embarrassing, and it springs neither from condescension nor disningenuousness.
