There was a 25k/50k trail race over the weekend and it was hot and hilly. When I finished it was probably about 90 degrees and an hour later it had to be over 100 degrees at the finish area.
Some of the canyons the trails went through were much hotter and it felt like you entered an oven.
Standing in the sun without even moving it felt like I was getting baked after I finished.
I hung out. Then left and ate and drove past the race area about 4 hours later and people were just getting to their cars about 9 hours after the race started. How the hell do people handle that heat and walk/jog out here for 8 or 9 hours?
And why were some of the people wearing long black tights? I couldn't believe the amount of clothing some people were wearing. If it was light and off the skin to try to protect them from the sun, I could understand but some of the people were wearing tights to their knees or just below the knees and thick shirts that were given out at the other race the people who put on this race put on.
That does not sound like a lot of fun.
Lots of ambulances when I left and I am sure only more had to come.
