In a week or so I am coming back from taking about a month off of running (so in a week it will have been 5 weeks off of running) due to very painful ITBS problems. Although I do not think my shoes (Asics Gel Hyperspeed 4s) were to blame as one of the factors that caused my ITBS, I'm a little nervous to jump back into the same shoes that I developed ITBS in, so I'm open to suggestions if I need to change what I'm wearing.
I have worked a ton on strengthening my hips and glutes in the meantime so hopefully this solves the ITBS problem.
Anyway, I am 6'3" and about 155-160. I'm going to be adding mileage slowly, but I want to get back up to 50-70 mpw. I have a high arch so I think I am an underpronator. I personally tend to like lighter shoes that are somewhere in between a trainer and a racing flat. My favorite shoes ever are the Nike Zoom Marathoners. Could my penchant for these kind of shoes at all contribute to ITBS?
Any suggestions for shoes?
