I have a very strong feeling that my high school cross country coach is expecting too much out of our team on our recovery days. Yesterday he told us we need to bump up our intensity on our recovery days from 6:30 down to 6:08 if our top 3 expects to run under 16 in the 5k. He told our 4th and 5th runner if they want to be 16:40 or under they need to train at 6:25 pace. This is for the runners going 50 mpw. He told us if we did 60 mpw we could do it at 7:00 pace, which I think is a lot more reasonable. Any thoughts? It would be appreciated!
