Forget that.
What are some of your fastest beer miles while race walkin?
check out this website. there's some good stuff there.
our team does it every year after outdoor championships, and this kid did it in 4:39, and he was naked, about 5 deep
...Crusader for Christ. Beer is not the answer. The lord can show you more enjoyment that any fake chemicals or sex. Praise God for he is the way.
no way he did the beer mile in 4:39 unless his name is Hicham el Guerrouj. that's a minute faster than the world record.
Would be impressive. Say the guy could drink well (remembering he has to drink just after running a lap) and could average 5s per can (idle non running time), then that is already a 4:19 mile. Then remember that he has to accelerate and deaccelerate into the change zone each time (would have to waste at least a second each time, so there is 3.5 sec more), so we are talking a 4:16 mile. You could argue that he is really doing 1x409.34m (beer recovery ~5s), 3x400m (beer recovery ~5s) but I think that we all agree that the beer is going to be more of a hinderance than a recovery. I'm thinking if the kid was a sub 4min miler and was an absolute animal willing to hurt himself that much and managing not to throw up then it is possible.
I reckon El G would manage about 5min. Here's why. He is Islamic so doesn't drink. He would drink the first can, throw up immediately and then proceed to run 2km only stopping to take a pseudo drink of each other beer (ie spill it on his face). You can only have one penalty lap.
hey all click on the beer mile link then go to the state of arkansas. I think a lot of you might find this interesting
Isaac newton: Can anyone chug a beer in 5 seconds, without shotgunning it, or using some type of funneling device? I don't think so. The kingston rules on the www.beermile.com page state it can't even be a wide-mouth can. Maybe the kid was shotgunning them, but otherwise 4:39 is absolutely impossible.
I rabbitted a teammate to 6:00, he really wanted to get under 6. It was one hell of a performance. Keep in mind that the time it takes to drink the beer is included in the time. I'm guessing it took him a little over a minute total to drink all the beer. So it took him a little under 5 minutes to do the running portion with beer in his gut.
Rod Dixon use to do beer-mile reps. 5 x Beer-mile all under 5min - 1 lap jog/puke recovery.
Does World Class Coach #1's athletes drink beer?
My conference had a beermile championship meet last spring, and out of a field of about 70 guys, the top times were 5:54, 6:10, and 6:20.
Also, I think if your sucking and squeezing the can, it's probably possible to drink a beer in under 5 seconds. I'm not sure whether this tactic is acceptable in a BM, but it could likely happen.

Issac,
I'm Australian too, and you're dead right about Hawke. It was 2.5 pints of beer in 11 secs in 1955 I think. The record still exists.
Thanks for bringing back a memory I had nearly forgotten.
I drank a six and then broke 5 minutes>
chocolate milk mile in coppell texas this weekend
that beer mile is kinda silly - whats the point of having beer? Obv it will make u drunk later which is fun but it might as well be the water mile or the soda mile(that would actually be harder i think- is soda more carbonated than beer?) if u need carbonation to make it equal in terms of the toughness of it. i mean u wont get drunk in 5 minutes- i guess if u take a long time the drunkeness aspect could kick in. I like some of the other records from that site- beer 2 mile which for me would prob be impossible and even better beer 3000 steeplechase would be highly comical and impossible.
what other races do people have? we had the chunder run of 7 miles/6 beers after xc every year- the last one was sooo hard and i took forever on it on two? of the years ugh.
It's very possible to drink a can of beer that conforms to beermile.com rules in 5 seconds. The difficult part is drinking the last 2 cans when you are breathing so hard...difficult to catch your breath and suck beer out of a can. I only did it once, and ran an 8:20.
