So this girl was arguing to me the other day that she cant break 10:39 in the 3200. And she said her 5k pr is 15:55 is that even possible?

If you can't answer this question for yourself then you're even dumber than this girl.
my guess is that she just hasn't raced a 3200 when she was in shape or having a good day.
for example, i ran 14:48 5k with a 5:06 mile pr. Never ran the mile/1500m during season when i was in shape (i never ever really ran a mile/1500m in college actually because i only did cross country in college).
the only opportunity that i would have had to run a fast mile would be the spring or summer. by then i was either base training, taking a break for running after xc, or just in poor shape.

As was said, not when in the same kind of fitness.
10:39 3200 is a 5:21 per mile pace.
15:55 5000 is a 5:07 per mile pace, obviously decently faster and for another 1.1 miles.

If you run splits considerably faster than your PR in a distance, you can go ahead and count it as your PR. Otherwise you're just being misleading on purpose.
Is their even a high school girl in the whole country who can run a sub 16 5k??
I think she may be a little delusional or uninformed about the true length of the course she set her 5k PR on.

Who said she was in high school? I'm guessing she ran the two mile PR in high school and hasn't run a 2 mile since.
She said she was in high school

Then she is full of shit
Yes.
She ran her 5K PR 10-15 years ago.
Now she is older and can't break 10:39 in the 3200 (or run a 5K anywhere near 15:55). As written, this scenario seems quite plausible.

Emily Sisson (Soph. @ Wisconsin) ran 15:48 her senior year in high school and also ran a 9:51 2 mile TT a month before the 5k.
She presumably meant 16:55
She probably lied about being in high school.
GO BEN!!!
