The least we can do to honor the few that have qualified for the OLYMPIC (not just a national championships) Trials (A or B standard) is to fully honor the accomplishment, and it's a petty slap in the face to charge them an entry fee after having met that time standard, with all the blood, sweat, tears and years of training involved, no matter how much they love the effort
I see no problem with requiring a USATF membership, since that is the national governing body, and if they want to use VISA, that is their choice. Just my feeling, and I work as an Invited Athlete Coordinator for a couple races, so a waived entry/free entry is basic courtesy.
