what can I run for bla bla bla based on this workout. I felt quite easy when the reality is they were busting a gut and it was effectively a race in practice.
The guts that they show by using stupid race tactics. "These pros are such wusses that they're just cruising along at 60 second quarter pace waiting to kick. I may only be a 4:30 miler myself, but at least I have the balls to take every race out in 1:58. I guess I'm like Pre and Lagat is chickenshit."
How one would fix the budget.
Also, not trying to get off-topic here but I want to laud the term "atomic grizzly bears." It's fantastic, though I'm sure an attack would hinder one's ability to PR.

How fast some little kid that they have some relation to just ran. "My 9-year-old daughter just ran 16:45 for the 5k in trainers. Is this good?"
I agree. After posting a ridiculous statement, pose the stupid, gee-whiz question "is this good?"
That's a good one.

Being the momentary object of some girl's attention.
A typical post might go as follows:
"hey guys, a random girl looked at me for a split second today! Do you think she wants to have my child? "
I love the training advice here. Folks come on and post how they are legitimately doing the work, and there are always serious responses like "you may be doing 100 mpw, but if you just added more strides your 10k time would drop by 3 minutes!!!"
And I love how every african is somehow lying about their age.
And I love how certain people are viewed as oracles. If Running Art hasn't figured it out, he should be charging high school kids $100 an hour to answer their posts.
"I can run a 4:09 mile, but can't break 65 for the 400."
How ultrarunning is only for slow losers.
That people who don't wear Garmins are much purer and better runners than those who do.
I don't believe it. I just don't believe it.
$$$$$$$$$$$
Never met so many except on letsrun.com who joined the Army Rangers at 16, went to a top 10 school, and make 200k as a software engineer at Apple.

How shitty the weather is where they live.
"It's really hot in the Midwest this summer!"
"You think that's bad? Try moving to Louisiana!"
"Hey, you guys are all pussies, try moving to Kingston, Jamaica!"
And the same for cold temperatures in the winter. There are threads solely reserved for people attempting to one-up each other about the weather.
And how little clothing they wear in cold weather. "I run in shorts in anything over 20 degrees. I might throw on a pair of gloves once it gets below 30....maybe."

Also, the bragging through downplaying one's abilities. For example, I was just a mediocre runner in college (PRs of 29:20 for 10k and 14:10 for 5k) so nothing special. Just your typical college runner.
This is called a humble brag, a long time favorite among runners.

How they ran fast PRs off of average/no talent.
Conversely, how fast they've run off of a relatively low volume of training. "I'm a sub-14 5k guy that runs 40 mpw: AMA"
i'm sub-elite

"How low their resting heart rate is"
Being asked by medical personell if they're ok after having pulse taken.
Yes. The low heart rate brag is entry-level pride for runners, and it being noted by a health professional is on the next level.
For the crowning achievement, I met a girl who told me for no reason at all that her doctor was making her wear a 24-hour heart monitor, because her resting heart rate was just so "shockingly" low. (It was like 40-something, not even so crazy.) She was just so proud that her runner physiology had raised medical eyebrows.
As a medical student, I asked more questions and it turned out that she had been having fainting spells, so the monitor was entirely indicated even aside from the "low" heart rate.
I was 17th guy at the 93rd best D1 team in the country and I wouldn't have traded it for 15 D3 national titles because I got a free pair of shoes and a shirt every year.
"My kids love coming to races with me to watch me run ! "
Yeah , sure they do .
I don't see that much bragging. The thing I see more of are questions with straight forward answers that are asked repeatedly.
"How many workouts a week to break a 17 minute 5k?"
"What's my marathon time based on doing a tempo at x pace?"
These are either very basic questions that anyone who's looked at a single training plan should know, or questions from overthinking a lonely singular workout.
