Yes, if only she had given up her spot. I'm sure Des would have won gold. You're an idiot. She made the team. She did what she is paid to do. Why should she give up her spot? So Des could place 9th? You're an idiot.

Yes, it does matter. Desi will run a smart even pace and do what it takes to be as close to the top 3 as possible (think Kastor). Kara on the other hand ,who I believe won't make it, will run for the cameras if she gets top 3 in the trials.
Remember...she bragged that NBC? came up to her and told her where to walk so that she would be on the television coverage and she actually said that during an interview. What is the point of saying that? What a braggart and how damn embarrassing to make such a statement.
Karrogant is not beating Desi and both she and Alberto know it. Then....the excuses will start pouring out. The baby, my hamstring, not enough time, too much time, the weather, the course, too slow for the first half and I know now that I should have kept it honest, not enough long runs, too many long runs, etc..... Desi just shuts up and runs!
We might have a chance in the marathon with Flanagan and Desi by the stars aligning just right, but with Goucher...forget about it.
Disclaimer: I live in Michigan and have the luxury of knowing what Desi is doing. She is not going to be dropped by any American in the trials and is only getting stronger and stronger combined with more and more leg speed. Kara medaling in London is downright laughable.
I am a fan of Desi but bottom line she didn't make the team. Furthermore, what does it matter if she PR's and finshes 5th, 6th, 7th....We need to start earning medals and winning championships not worry about setting a PR...
True, but I was rolling into another subject on Desi with why she is doing it smart and will be ready for the marathon trials...more so versus Kara Goucher. You'll see.
I think she will be tougher to beat come London.....Trials, will amount to nothing more then a training run for her--which is good because she doesn't need to crush that...she will be able to resume her preperations for London sooner rather then later....What I admire about her is she is so mecahanically sound...not to mention tough as nails as evident by her Boston Run..
No one should be getting down on Kara or any other American distance runner. With respect to Davila, the name of the game is progression and she is certainly in a program where she is progressing and evolving as a World class Athlete....Kara, earned her spot and was hers to keep--no one should expect to get in if they DID NOT earn the spot... If Worlds were important to Davila, then she should have picked up a spot on the 26.2 team...
