No
He was born in 97 has to be at least 13 if not almost 14.
Finals
1 Hall, Philip Fayetteville 2:00.92
2 Gorsche, Joseph Track Iowa-0840 2:00.98
3 Norwood, Jahleel California Q 2:06.31
The record is 1:56.36 for that age group,(Age 13), so not a National record. Cody Harper 2001.
He completed his Senior year at Northern Colorado if it is the same person.
http://uncbears.com/sports/track/2010-11/bios/harper_cody00.html48.39 400 PR and never really improved on his 800 time, unless perhaps he ran a bit faster in high school:
His high school record is 1:55.99 so I doubt he ran quicker than that.

That's pretty pitiful. How can you not improve on PR at age 13? Must have compltely lost interest.
Don't know .. guess maybe the 400 was a bit more appealing, but unless you are running 45 in college by your Senior year... well- It is what it is. I couldn't run a 48 400. He does have time, maybe he will be competing in the 800 in the next few years, seems to me it has to be his better event, but it takes a bit more work.
Wrong Cody Harper.
This is the Cody Harper you're looking for. He ran a 1:48.74 leg on the Villanova DMR that finished second at Penn in 2010.
Also, he was 14 years, 5 months old when he ran the 1:56.36, not 13 years old.
Great reporting!
Thanks! I knew someone would post and verify the correct individual. Looks like he imporved about 6 seconds (non-relay) time wise.
What does this say about young talented runners? If Cody was running 1:56 at age 14, was he just a bit more mature for his age?
US Age 15 record must be the 1:51 by Granville. Maybe it isn't the to run so fast when you are young, unless you are Kenyan I guess. I think runners like Rudisha excel between the ages of 18-26. I wonder how fast Gray ran in high school?
