What shoes was robby andrews wearing at ncaa's?

I'm curious, does anyone know what shoes robby was wearing the other day? I'm not interested in getting them or anything (i prefer my milers and victorys), i'm jsut wondering what they are because i havent seen them before (at least not the colors he has).

they looked like victorys from a distance but when i watched the race again, it got close enough on his feet when he was walking off the track that i got a better look. they had like a lime green upper, nike swoosh was there so they were definitely nike's, and the plate and outsole were completely black (no victory sharks skins on the heel, it could be the old miler shark shin though). the heel counter also looked a lot like the miler's.

is this just an old spike, or a one he nike id'd himself and just opted for those instead of his usual victories? or is it some promo shoe he may have gotten from junior worlds or something else? or an entirely new shoe from nike that apparently only he has (ncaa would be all over him for that, so that probably isnt likely).

anyone know?

I think it was a prototype of the victory 2s. Russell Brown was wearing them at pre. They have a carbon fiber plate.

how'd he end up with them? unless he paid fr them i dont see how he could get them without getting in some sort of trouble.

and are the victory 2's any better than the victory 1's (or the milers?)?

Many college teams get free shoes from various companies. Hell, my super shitty d3 team did even...

Ummmmmm no, dude. Schools pay Nike big bucks for their stuff. Oregon (biggest example), Stanford, FSU, UF, Virginia, etc get new stuff from Nike to promo seriously all the time.

Umm no dude, Nike pays schools big bucks to keep them in Nike, it is one of the many players in the game. Adidas has Wisco I know and a few others, Asics has the U of M and until a couple years ago Liberty. This is big business all the football players through xc runners decked out head to toe in your gear...one day later after a gifted runner from VA rocks the 800, the internet is ablaze with wonderment of a "prototype" Nike shoe. Nike spends bank to keep these kids both as billboards and in Nikes for their careers.

Quite a few teams with big shoe contracts are frequently asked to test & give feedback on prototype shoes.

We were always given the opportunity to give feedback on shoes & gear to the product development guys from Nike at their hospitality suite at the big meets.

I had a particular competition shoe model that was so bad that I had gone through about 3 sets in one season. When the product development guy asked me what I thought, I gave him ten reasons why the shoe sucked. (Our coach was trying to get me to shut up so as to not piss off Nike). The Nike guys jaw hit the ground. He grabbed a pen and paper and asked for the same ten reasons his product sucked as he wrote them down.

As we got ready to leave the suite, the product development guy pulled me aside and thanked me for my honest input on their product. He wanted me to try out their prototype for the new generation of the shoe in the next product cycle.

I was willing to work with them but it took too long for the cycle to change and I was out of the competitive scene and into coaching. To their credit, they too many of my suggestions & integrated many of my ideas into the next generation of the shoe.
