Wow, I said it this morning in another thread, it is a shame they arent in the Dream Mile today, but these times will probably be more impressive than what we see from the girls race at the DM.

3 Courtney Chapman 12 Fay.-Manlius-1 4:23.01

5 Samantha Nadel 11 North Shore-1 4:25.59
6 Rachel Paul 11 Sachem East-1 4:27.88

15 Katie Lembo 9 Penfield-1 4:38.60
Would her time 4:17 be a freshman national record? Does anyone know?
Not to be a Debbie Downer but being a fast freshman girl is uncorrelated (or even inversely related) to future performance. Great time but don't get too excited.
Per Dyestat, it's a freshman record by 3 seconds and No. 7 all-time high school.
US#1 4:17.84 1500 for Bronxville frosh Mary Cain, beating frosh USR by 3+ seconds and #7 all-time. Cornwall Central sr Aisling Cuffe 4:19.83 (completing great double) in 2nd, while two more break 4:24 and six total under 4:28. In two heats, 15 girls run 4:37 or better.http://rise.espn.go.com/track-and-xc/northeast/2011-Outdoor/NY-NYSPHSAA-State-Meet.aspx?pursuit=TrackAndXC

Actually the correlation is excellent.
She was a tiny 7th grader, but I think she is taller now. She is really really fast 2:05 split and 55 open 400.

what world do you live in?
Four girls under 4:24 is just sick.
Is there a video of this race, or description of how it progressed?

She is progressing really nicely (obviously), terrific girl, with a first class coach who delivers healthy runners to top schools. All-around athlete, swim, soccer, etc.

Actually the correlation is pretty good. Freshgirls who can run the equivalent of a sub-5:00 mile are much, much more likely to run well in the future, compared to frosh who can't break 10:00 for a mile.
Anyone know her exact age? For Team USA for World Youth, she'd have to be born in 94 or 95. Someone told me they think she's a tad too young (born in 96). Hasay was 2nd in '07 WY Champs with 4:17.24.
Here's something on Bronxville's coach, Jim Mitchell, from a few years ago. http://ny.milesplit.com/articles/24400
AMAZING, Wow! That is INSANE!
So in a year he graduated three members of his 4x800m relay it will be intersting to see how the Broncos do next year. With Henrietta Miers returning, a 2:12 relay runner, and yougsters Mary Cain and Amelia Phillips a year stronger, if there is one thing you can count on, it's that the Bronxville 4x800 will once again be one the best in the country.
If she was returning in 2009, how can she still be in 9th grade?
One can run on the varsity from 7th grade on.july 2009 wrote:
