Alright so I still have this question in my head and it's been nagging me for a while: what is more conducive for speedwork: Spikes or trainers? I have no choice but to train on a dirt track for my school, because it is simply what we have. I run about 25 miles a week for 800-specific training. It seems that if I were to use spikes for all my speed training, they would wear out rather fast and I would have to replace them every month and a half or so because I'm training on dirt; if I was on rubber it would be a completely different story. Since I will ONLY use Nike Zoom Victories and will never downgrade to a lesser shoe model, I find it will be expensive to keep up this rather high-maintenance training routine. I run about 12-14 of those miles doing speed work; can anyone with experience similar to my own give me some helpful insight on this matter?
