It was very comfortable. In fact, I hesitate even to call it a time trial but it was done with spikes on the track. What are my chances of running sub-9:10 assuming strong aerobic capacity? ( speed: 31 sec 200 guy in trainers)

Almost none, if you ran it too slow to be a TT then it doesn't really do us any good.
3:40 would predict a ~5 min. mile, 5 min. milers don't run 9:10 3ks...
maybe 9:40
if it was comfortable then it wasn't a time trial. maybe run it again harder and report back?
even better, run 2k. that will be much better indicator for 3k. 1200 doesn't tell us much.
10 mins. +, a 5 minute miler means there's no way you're under 10 for the 3k
I may not have run it hard enough but doesn't the fact that I ran 3:40 very relaxed say something?
That's 4:55 pace for 3 laps, on target for a 9:10 3K, and I'm not a workout hero.
Mile PR is 4:35
So now you come clean... With a mile pr of 4:35 (if current) you have a good chance to run 9:10. Not sure why 9:10 other than that's sub 5 for a couple of miles. It will sound better when your pr is 8:59. Based on a 3:40 1200 work-out nobody will predict anywhere near 9:10

What is your mile time and how old are you?

also what does this even mean? i am sure if you can run 4:35 you can run much faster than :31 for 200m even "in trainers."
was the 3:40 part of a workout? what else did you do in the workout, and how much rest? what has your mileage been? even if you have run 4:35, the 1200 still tells us nothing about your current fitness level. how on earth could we base a 3k prediction on that?
ryan braun went 7 for 10 in batting practice today, do you think he'll hit 3 HR's in today's game?

It says you should try harder
