Charlie: My last race last year was my first tapered race and great results. Ran a respectable 1:17:35 carrying 10 lbs extra weight. Decided my training was not on track going into the race and was expecting 1:20 + unless this miracle taper thingy cut minutes off my time. My legs were so fresh I ran 35:48 first 10k split. Too fast but was able to survive the latter part of the race.
ATP - You throw down a 39.37 at over 70 and it is just a casual mention. Amazing and would love to see the response of the younger runners as you pass them.
IGY - Good volume week. What is this CV pace? I think it is around 10K pace. If this is accurate, my TH runs are more CV runs that I convince myself are TH :)
Dhaaga - Funny post and doubt you are going to be able find another American to push to the front in 2021.
MikeF - congrats on the 113,113!
My Week:
Great week of running and finally got the current record on the local Hoka ultra race route segment by 1 minute only to lose it one hour later. Trying for weeks but it was fun regardless. I’m running the short stuff very fast and in control but doubt it translates to fast times at 5k and above. Usually race half and full marathons with high volume training which negatively impact interval paces. In uncharted waters and am clueless if I could extend any of my 1-2 mile paces.
