RockIn the WalkIn!
3 10 mile hilly hikes
2 6 mile easy walks
1 "hard" treadmill effort 4mph between 9 and 12 percent grade for 90 minutes
close to 50 miles
Hope to 70 by the end of February then gradually increase to 105 by the end of May.
Unconventional Ideas:
Runners who have good natural speed but can't handle running high volume should walk instead of run the easy stuff.
Say I can run 27 for 200. Say a top distance runner can run 3 seconds faster for 200. Why should I not only be 24 seconds per mile behind the top guy for any distance! Why is this not the case? Maybe it is just not being able to build up the endurance to hold the fast pace? Will walking huge amounts of miles build my endurance without getting injured? Maybe.
