Are you asking what makes a good runner genetically? The things the first poster listed were merely mental things; I however assume you mean physical attributes. Some things I've noticed:
Ability to push one's discomfort zone and keep going-this is mental, but it's completely necessary because you won't get very far if you pansy out just when it starts to hurt.
Good leg length vs. height ratio-most elite (distance) runners tend to have long legs in comparison to their bodies. Just look at all the East Africans; even look at American elites and you'll notice it's quite similar.
High V02 Max-ability to transport oxygen and use oxygen at a higher rate than others.
I'm rather tired; there are probably more traits but I can't remember them all right now. But remember; as the first poster said, these mean nothing without dedication, etc.
