This guy is lying, there are a small handful of athletes on OTC Eugene getting over 40k a year and definitely not the guys you mentioned.
I KNOW this, so stop placing lies on the internet its bad for the sport

I would use the phrase "all the nike gear one could ever ask for" loosely. I know of one OTC athlete who had to buy his own racing flats.
otc base pay is the same as walmart. pretty good for eugene with no sales tax and with some help from the folks.

No. When are endorsement contracts generally published? These aren't teams in a league that are paying a salary.
Additionally, it would be embarrassing to see that a world champion started out with $30,000 per year base pay.
Why is that?
What rights do they have to make money out of talent? I am all for them getting a share of bums-on-seats and prizemoney.
But I don't know that a living wage to pursue a dream should be entitled.
We know that Bolt gets $250000 a race in appearance fees, and that Mo Greene, at his peak, got $100000 a meet. We know that Asafa Powell had a $700000 contract with Nike which was not offered to be renewed at the same rate, so Asafa signed with La Ning (China). We know (or Sports Illustrated found out) that Lance made $15 million, mostly on endorsements, in his last TDF victory year.
But these are REAL athletes, the best in the world at one time, and they WIN things.
OTC has never won a single medal. In fact, I have my doubts that they have ever won a single international race while part of OTC. Wheating, Solinsky and a few others have their own Nike contracts (but still haven't won anything internationally), just like everyone at the Mammoth Track Club elite has a sponsorship contract.
But the rest of the OTC guys, why SHOULD they get paid? They haven't done anything.
Yesterday, at Kidd Field at UTEP, a Jamaican woman going to South Plains in Texas ran the fastest female 100m time in the world (11.16). What did she get paid for that? Nothing. So why should the OTC posers get anything?
L.A. Sucks, and so do you. You're just jealous of UO, Eugene OR, and Pre's Olympic Gold Medal.
I corroborate Spangler's answer. A close friend was on OTC Elite in a recent year; he was compensated per Spangler's post. My friend was waiting tables part time in Eugene.

Most of them don't make any money at all hardly. They just receive free housing, some money for living (food...etc) and also around 1-3k per year for spending money. Our sport sucks. Deal with it. And yes, I know this for a fact. Nick Symmonds does not count. He makes more.
