being from Tufts I noticed the same thing, so I did some further research, too.
According to T&FN, the NCAA split into DI, DII, and DIII in 1973. Also, from the results online, Moynihan was 85th at the 1972 championships.
I'd be interested now in seeing if we have archives that go back that far, as I imagine he probably ran some track times that would make our current top-10 lists.
