Ran 4 miles on the treadmill.
80 minutes total on treadmill
20/60
after the 60, 6x10second hill sprints
don't need to be "tough" to get a good run in
slow run on packed snow roads during day
short run at treadmill at night, jack up the speed a bit
Ran about 8 miles in the morning on some trails behind my house. Trails were snow filled but kinda-sorta packed from snowmobiles. Snow wasn't too bad because the wind blew it around a lot. Still had to run through about 2-3 inches of snow on the trails (better than 8-12 in my yard). Was going to go for a PM run but the extreme wind and frigidness convinced me to do a 35:00 progression run on the treadmill instead.
Got in 7 miles in the woods where a lot of the trail was clear. I had to stop in the first mile and shake out the snow on branches of around 20 pine trees or so. They were all leaning over with the weight, some of which were blocking the trail.
I generally just man up, and stop being a little girl. Its worked pretty well for me so far. Some of you should try it some time.
I spoke to an now retired world class marathoner and he said these are the days that remind him why he is happily retired. Said at one time I would actually go out and run in this crap
I'm running on the treadmill now. I dealt with the cold and wind of the last several weeks and one small snow, but the combination of all the cold, snow, and wind this time is just too much to run with anywhere near correct form, so I figured the treadmill wasn't so bad in this case.
SNOWSHOEING!!!
Get out the door and trudge ,these are the days that make you, not nice days.

I'm not from the east coast but i've read about how much snow there is right now and the blizzard... And how people are snowed in. Is anyone still going outsi and doing their run? How is it possible, wouldn't you sink into the knee-deep snow?
Shoveled snow for an hour then ran 2 miles in 17:30. High winds more bothersome than the snow.
Today roads much better, going out for 4 miles and later today XC skiing.
long run on the treadmill. all the other runs have been in the snow... I went to college in upstate NY so this isn't that bad
Boring but serviceable: treadmill at my y or plowed parking lot at nearby shopping center. Some of the drivers in my neighborhood are manic, and more so in this weather.

Aqua-jogging, head over to the local Y and get my normal run done in the water, far less likely to get injured.

Water running is OK but if you want to be outdoors... Went 4 miles this morning with these:

Running entirely on the roads and hoping that nobody hits me. Most of the sidewalks are shoveled at this point and not terrible to run on. I think we're due for a melt soon, or at least I hope so because my knees are starting to complain.
0.5" of snow and some wind is not a blizzard. Hilary and I are getting in our running just fine in DC. Love the Rock Creek Park trail network.

NY Times: Treadmill desks might really be worth it. Does anyone use one?
