After about 40 years of running, I had my biggest payday this spring. I got $400 for a 37:03 10k., $250 for first grandmaster, and then they gave me third over 40 as well!

Kentucky Derby Marathon 4/24/2010
TIMOTHY MARTIN 2:29:42 $3,000
MICHAEL SEYMOUR 2:38:50 $1,500
JASON LOKWATOM 2:39:35 $500
There was a lumberjack triathlon I was in where there were 6 teams entered and the prize money was $1000, $500, and $250. It was a 1 km canoe, a 3km run, and sawing through a log. I was hungover and ran about 9:30 for the 3km and we got 3rd because our sawer got her saw stuck in the log. The winning team's runner ran about 15 min for the 3km and got about $350 for it.
Tried to find the results as I was curious what the times were - found them from a couple of years later when 'word got out' and 11 teams came out and the fastest runner was doing 5 minute miles for 2 miles to 'earn' their $350:)
I won $75 bucks for 29:38. 10th place male.

For a 5 miler.
A few years ago I ran a 5k that the top 3 women ran 17:03, 17:05, 17:29 for like $150, $75, $50. The year before there was no prize money and the top 3 women went 19:14, 19:54, 20:08.
Ran 18:14 in 8th grade at dinky 5k and won $150. I took it because I'm a badass and dont give an f
Instead of starting a new thread, I am bumping this old one. This is an older race, but I recently read this in an article:
"Saturday's unexpected $500 prize money may not help. Prize money was donated for top finishers in both the men's and women's division by AEP/SWEPCO and Magtel, respectively. Lynn Wright of Alma won the women's event with a time of 4:16:15.7."

$500 for a 4:16 marathon for a woman!
maybe not slow, but I've seen a guy run low 16 and get $500. then 2nd was mid 18 for $300 or so.
1st place at the 2012 Savannah Marathon won $1000 by running 2:43, 2nd won $500 for running 2:48. The half marathon was much faster though.
I've had some decent paydays.
I won $500 for a 33:10 10k one year. I was happy.
I won $1,500 for a 1:16 half one year. I was even more happy.
I won about $2,500 in gift cards to pretty legit stores for a 2:31 marathon victory. I used all of the gift cards. One was even a $500 Visa gift card, so it was basically cash.
I never really searched these races out, just happened to be local ones that I won.
I won $50 for 3rd place at a 10K in a time of 41-something. Granted, they had fu\cked up on the course and it was actually 11.7K but still.
i got $150 for a 34:30 10k once
ran 16:52 5k one time for $200.
usually need to run 15:00-15:20 for $150-$300 where i live

care to tell us where that was? I can understand if not.
God I would love to find some of these races
The problem is for the most part if a runner finds a hidden money race they keep it to themselves.
I have won money with the following sorry performances:
18:41 5K ($100)
1:17:41 half marathon ($100)

I would tell you if they still gave that kind of money, but they got smart and stopped. Er... I should say the sponsor got smart and stopped. A friend of mine won the year before in like 1:22 so I decided to jump in and win the next year. They stopped the money the year after and went to a "head-to-toe" at the local running store, which was still cool (although they chose what you got, which was less cool but better than nothing).
I'll just say that it was in Virginia.
