I have recently heard about a road race that will offer some prize money that will be located in the middle of no where. I am in decent shape but it a Kenyan shows up I don't stand a chance. What are some of the slowest times you have seen win money in local road races?
Would've won 100 bucks for a 15:20 road 5k but I was in college and didn't accept it...
I won $100 after running a 39:17 10k. I was the first male but got smoked by the female winner.

Last two were very impressive as far as time goes. I know around where I live there are a few races my friends have gone to run and they were the 3 fastest there so they all ran in 123 and the guy who found out about the races got to finish first and the other two just went 2 3. Think he won in like 17 mins for first then second was right behind him and third was 17 23. Prize money was 100 for first 50 for second and 25 for third. There is also a big local race were 500 dollars is for first 300 for second and 200 for third. Sometimes a really fast guy shows up to win it but some yrs its won in 16 low to mids and third is almost 17 not to bad for that much money.

A small 5k near my hometown has about 300 entrants, but gives money to the top 3...
The top 3 in each age group that is. I think some 70 year old ran like 40:xx and got $50 because he was the winner of his age group. Prizes are $50 for winning your AG, $25 for second, $10 for third.
No additional cash prize was offered for top 3 Overall, but there were medals for top 3 men and women overall.
I couldn't believe it, they must have given back most of the race money as prizes.
I remember a thread two years ago about a 2,000 dollar prize won in the 16's in new York
Had an athlete I coach run 20:12 for 5k. She won women's overall by 2 minutes and had to give back the $100 (middle schooler).
If we are thinking of the same race it was a $1000 prize for the 5k where the guy ran 14:30 but the girl only ran 20:30. The race also went 10 deep for I think 23 minutes for the women got $1000 bucks, the guys were a bit more competitive, 15:40s was for 100.The half marathon had a $2k prize.

I won a $100 gift certificate to a running store for a 17:12. (fastest 40+ male)
Well, it's the only thread I can think of from that time period about that and I'm from new york and this is the only race that I know of that had a slow winner fr a lot of cash.

A 1:08:18, on the McMillan Running Calculator of equivalent times is a 14:47 5K and a 51:26 ten miler, which is fast.
Your example, unless the time is a typo, is faster than all times, in all posts made before you. It's hardly an example of slowness to add to a list of them.
