Can anyone explain the new USTFCCCA rankings for me? Looking through who teams beat, who they ran against, and times I am perplexed at the magnitude of seeming anomalies. Take into account differences in courses and it still doesn't add up to me. Chile Pepper 10k throws me for a loop, but looking for average pace/k and plugging that into an 8k (instead of 10k) at pre-nats seems fairly reasonable to find some interesting stuff.
A few quick things I didn't understand are:
Why Arkansas jumped so far back after only losing to Indiana by 1 point.
How Iona jumped to number 4. Yea they got 2nd blah blah who did they really beat?
How Oklahoma jumped to number 5 ahead of 2 teams that beat them already this year... Wisconsin and Indiana at Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
How Florida State managed to get in the top 10, they are not good...at all and how can you say they are
Oklahoma State didn't take the #1 spot after an incredible performance at Chile Pepper (I know Stanford was awesome too but seriously Ok State had to have gone through 8k at a pace not far off Stanford's finishing times...yes I know the courses are different but still confused)
Wisconsin jumped back up to number 6 after doing...nothing! They lost to Oregon and beat a bunch of nobodies that are definitely not contending for a top 10 spot
There are a few question marks I have back farther in the rankings but I can't remember places now and I figure if anyone else sees them they may bring them up.
Go.
