I agree Boston needs to tighten QT's for the broads. Don't get me wrong, I love me some bitches, but a sea of pussy is definitely a distraction to a dude focusing on 26.2 miles!

This might piss a bunch of people off, but I don't think I'd be alone in saying I'm bummed that a whole lot of sub-2:40 guys and sub-3:00 girls are missing out because the thing got filled by thousands of 3:05 dudes.
OK fine, even I hate myself for that last bit, but dammit, that's what I'm feeling right now.
We all hate you too.

Why not like it was in the 70\'s? 3:00 or less for men under 40, 3:30 or less for all women and masters men. That\'s it. Make it simple, make it exclusive again.
Best idea yet.
3:30 is too easy for Masters men. 3:15 to age 55 and women to 40. Then 3:30 for older guys and Masters women.

A little late there, eh Bushy? If my little admission brought the hate, is it only because you're afraid to take on the real vitriol on this thread? Just askin'...
Don't hate me, good point on #2. There was a recent interview with Steve Jones that fits well with this debate and the growth of marathon participation mainly through runners raising money for charities...
"He (Steve Jones) adds 'we were athletes and we didn’t go to races because we were raising 10 bucks for this good cause or that good cause. A lot of people are offended when I say that. But I’m a purist at heart and I’ve seen my sport diluted and thinned out. The level of participation has plummeted because my sport has been kow-towed into mass participation charity events.'"
I'm not against running for a charity but I think Boston should be reserved only for people who run a qualifying time.
Brklyn, please go post that on the runnersworld.com boston marathon forum.
then see the fit shift the fan.
