Lets say I've run 24:00 8k on a faster xc cross course like at terre haute or paul short. How much faster should I expect to run on a road course of equal difficulty if I'm in an identical shape? Does 10 seconds per mile sound reasonable?

Oshkosh is probably at least a minute faster than Terra Haute, and I'd say a really flat road race where you wear racing flats is similar. So I'd say it's reasonable.
10 seconds seems to stretch it a bit...what type of road are we talking about? You do notice a difference between blacktop, brick, dirt, gravel, tarmac etc...
