I thought people said Adams State was going to dominate but the got a distant 4th. Did they not run all their guys?

results link?
I'm not sure who said that? To me, they got about what they should have. It didn't look like they ran very well, but I don't think they were getting in the top 3 even on a good day. 4th is just about right for this team.
Yeah, this years Adams team doesn't have a front runner or two like they did the past few years. You can't expect to compete for the win unless you have a guy finishing within the top places. Their top guy was 15th.
However, they do have a solid team and a solid pack in 1-5 finishing within 30 seconds of each other. The Adams teams in 2008/2009 were unreal. This is more on par for a top D2 school.
Nobody was beating Oklahoma State today. They are going to be tough to beat at nationals if they can replicate this performance. But, 14th at the Chili Pepper is more like 70th at nationals. Their number 5 needs to close down that gap or OK State will get killed there.
Their pack is tighter this year than last. 1:10 1-5 last year at nationals; :42 today. They're going to be just fine.

OK State #5 at nationals will be above 70 - probably more like 100. I don't they will get killed there but I don't think they can win either.
Yeah, but their top guy isn't Ruben, Braun, or Medigovich this year. I would expect a tighter 1-5.
They are a very formidable team, but I don't think they are unbeatable. There's still quite a ways to go in the season, but it should make nationals more interesting.
Yes, but the guys at the front were not spread out like they will be at NCAAs because there was no reason to be 30 seconds faster. The #5 guy had more reason to be fast(for him) here.
Ripe for the picking...
Why should he be fast at #5 when his teammates went 1-4? He had to know the win was in the bag. Surely he knew he was top 15 and 4 teammates were ahead of him. Besides, I'd think if the first 4 were running a hard tempo, he was too. If he had a bad day and couldn't hang with the first 4, imagine if he has a good day. If he finishes 6 or 7 and he pushes hard, then everyone would be saying it's all over, OSU runs away with it, and all that jazz.
All of this crap anyway. Too much can change in 30+ days.
adams state's australian miler Craig Huffer didnt run, sickness. he s got a 3:36 1500m PR .
He s not a XC guy but would have been top 15 for sure.
Well now that you mention it wrote:

100th?? This is equivalent to what? look at who finished in front of him. 8th place was 6th at ncaa's last year, 5th was 18th at ncaa's, 7th is a 3:57 miler, 11th was 38th at ncaa's, and 13th was indoor all-american in the most recent 5000m. This 14th place finish is not bad at all. As said before, 29:52 is strong no matter how you look at it. I would Stublaski's finish is closer to being worth about 60th at ncaa's.

Yes, 100th. Is there some comprehension problem?
I love how folks pick out "the guy who finished just ahead of him was xth at NCAA last year." Always with a hilariously biased selection of who to look at.
But, hey, if you are going to play that game you might want to check out the guy who finished 12th here at Chili Pepper, two spots in front of Stublaski. He finished 163 at NCAAs last year.
Better yet, the guy who finished 14th, Stublaski himself, finished 123 at NCAAs last year. Maybe it's just me but that would seem to be the most direct comparison of all.
So, yeah, 100th is a moderately optimistic estimate for where Stub might finish this year.
How come Adam's State didn't show up for the Dellinger???

Because Adam's state was never granted admission as part of the United States. Thus, Adam was forced to relinquish this territory to the better established Colorado.
didn't ok state win nationals last year with their fifth guy (GF) staggering in around 100th? they'll be fine.
So huffer would have been their #1 for sure even though he was 3rd on the team at the shootout and the miler has to run a 10k not an 8k.... yeah sorry but no, nice try tho

Did you happen to notice Stublaski finished 20 seconds faster this year than last? And if you want to continue to point out who finished 12th, notice Andy Bayer in 20th. Not trying to argue silly points, basically what i want to point out is that if you look at this field, it is AT LEAST the same quality of either of the prenats races. There are only so many races in the country, and if you add up prenats results, chile pepper, and dellinger, at this point we get a pretty clear picture of who's looking good and who's not.
Obviously OSU and Stanford are at the top, but NAU without Chipangama will have problems. Wisconsin was a much different team this week than they were at their home meet, so I'd say my top five currently are OSU, Stanford, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Iona. Still unclear though after the top 2.
