Given Indiana's success at the addidas Invite, I would not be surprised if this is primarily for runners in the 5 to 12 spots. This will give them racing experience and help determine who are the top nine for Big Tens and top seven for NCAAs.

some of those d1 schools are sending b teams I think
'some of those d1 schools are sending b teams I think'
Highly doubt that also add alabama to the list
which teams are sending their B team?
Some of those (by some I mean most) are gonna get smoked by Adams State, welcome to D2.
Some might run an A/B squad looking to figure out which of runners 4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11 etc belong.
Quit talking sh*t. You look like an imbecile. I love Adams, but D2 can't even begin to compare to D1. "Welcome to D2." Give me a break. Absolutely dumb statement.

Then you don't know Helmer.

Actually, Adams had like 4 or 5 guys under 14 minutes last year. I'd say that compares favorably with even the top 10 D1 teams.
Agreed. Adams has a great program. But the "welcome to D2" comment is laughable. D2, as a whole, can't even begin to measure up depth-wise. The top D2 teams in a given year are the exception.
Helmer is a great coach because he doesn't believe that distance runners can only run one hard race a season. Admittedly, they fell apart last year (physically as well as mentally), but this team is much stronger in every way right now because Helmer demands it. What will every one say when they beat Badgers on their own course to end their Big 10 streak and then place top 5 at Nationals?
We'll say it's a long way to November.

I think that the extra year in maturity will make a difference in Indiana's ability to keep conditioning going in the right direction through Big Tens/NCAAs. I am a bit surprised at Indiana doing this meet and would expect it to be used in a manner that fits into the training/prepping plan rather than as an objective in and of itself. Good luck.

LOL, yeah, I know it has been a long time but tell that to Reina and Zinn when Seefeldt and Vigil's Adams boys took it to them in '88 or '89 (when you are my age it all blurs). Arkansas won by only 2 or 3 points. No doubt D1 on a whole is superior to D2, but there are some outstanding programs that definitely compete head to head. I wish I could go, it should be a great day.
Alabama is not coming, they are going to Pre-Nats.
Why would these teams send their "B" teams to Arkansas to get the shit kicked out of them by both Arkansas and Oklahoma State? Indiana, if they are sending their "A" team, should make this one hell of a Chili Pepper invite! Predictions? Assuming all teams run their "A" squad.
1. Oklahoma State
2. Arkansas
3. Indiana
4. Adams State
5. Texas A&M
Arkansas had a close one out at Stanford, but I think they will finish a very close 2nd again (but this should solidify them as a top 5 team, losing to both Stanford and OK State by less than 10 points).

That's deep? You're being sarcastic, right?
Indiana will utterly dominate this meet. OkSt? Meh, maybe. It isn't exactly a field of Pre-Nationals quality.
Disagree. Have you seen the pre-nationals race assignments? Besides NAU v. Stanford, there isn't really anything juicy. Maybe Princeton will step up against those guys... Colorado will probably blow over their race. So on the whole, it's a good race, but I am more enticed myself by the chile pepper. OSU/Arkansas/Indiana is way better than any pre-nats matchup. Plus add to the mix Oklahoma and Adams State which would probably be close to that 10th in the nation mark in DI. Auburn with Cheruyiot also provides some good individual entertainment.
