Wow I don't think I have ever seen anybody run a 5k anywhere nearly that fast with form as horrendous as Salazar's was in this race.

What does that mean??
Great vid, though!
About 20 seconds later:
"When you smell that pizza..."
I burst out laughing. Oh Larry, you are a national treasure.
It's funny that Salazar was everyone's bitch in this race, and now coaches his athletes to be the assholes sitting on whoever is leading.

Alberto didn't seem to mind being an (excellent) rabbit). He was helping other runners even back then. Goes against the Letsrun "Dr.Evil" portrayal on these boards by little puds who never contributed anything more than vitriol to the sport.
Sorry he was not "rabbiting" for the benefit of other runners or giving back in anyway. He knew in order to win that the pace had to be fast. He was simply racing to win, not for anybody else. Take off your Al Sal goggles please.
You can tell he resented that "asshole" Centrowitz for sitting on him, the way he jogged the victory lap afterwards to suck away the glory. Letsrun has opened my eyes on the truly evil nature of AlSal.

Worth another look, in this Summer of Centrowitz...

What are you trying to say? A world record doesn't get broken for awhile and therefore athletes in that event were on roids when they set it? Bob Beamon was doping then, right?
Bob Beamon was on "altitude + tailwind."
Larry Rawson sucked ass in 1982, too!
I loved running on that track.
Centrowicz the elder reminds me of what Pete Magill would have done if he had stuck with running instead of partying during his developmental years.

Look at the people in the stands.
They named all the runners in the race and listed their PR's in the graphics.
The announcer sounds better before the race even got started.
NBC, ESPN watch these videos!!!
I noticed that. Great crowd- enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Great announcing- even by Rawson. I liked the graphics pre-race with PR's.
Also- no rabbits, the runners (racers) went for an American Record. Salazar knew what he had to do to get it. He still got outkicked but at least he didn't sit back and wait for the inevitable.
NBC, ESPN, and our top runners should watch this video.
